About Us

Hi, it’s Libby and Pip, the creative duo behind Stafford Clay Studio. We met through a shared passion for pottery, art and community building. We wanted to create a unique studio space where inspiration flows and creativity thrives.

With over 35 years of combined experience in clay education, we’re dedicated to share our passion and knowledge. Proudly based in Stafford, come and join us on your very own unique journey and fall in love with clay, in a friendly and relaxed environment.

Meet Libby

I am a practicing multi-media artist and designer, specialising in both mould making and hand building, using glass and clay in both sculptural and functional work. My playful and often humorous work evokes contemplation on the power and place we each hold in society.

I’ve been able to regularly exhibit in and around UK museums, galleries and virtual exhibitions. Working alongside contemporary curators to develop relationships with communities, creating connection to heritage and feminist practices.

With 30 years of artistic experience and developing my practice whilst studying BA (Hons) Glass and Ceramic Design and MA Ceramic Arts, at Wolverhampton University, I have an extensive range of knowledge in ceramic techniques.

My classes aim to offer participants an opportunity to build skill in wheel work, hand- building, slip casting and surface decoration, along with developing creative potential and relationship to material.

Meet Pip

In 2000, I obtained my Ceramics degree at Wolverhampton University. I have worked there ever since, as a Ceramic Technician and the past 16 years as Technical Demonstrator in Ceramics, instructing students in all processes of clay.

I am a maker for practicality. If I need something in my home or garden, my first question to myself is, can I make it in clay?! There’s nothing I enjoy more than to make bespoke gifts for my friends and family. It means so much more to give a gift that I have made with my own hands.

There’s something truly magical about working with clay — the way it transforms in your hands, how it can start as a simple lump of clay and become a beautiful, piece of art, whether functional or not.

With my classes, I will demonstrate, support and guide you throughout your clay journey, showing you the different techniques we use to achieve a fantastic creation in clay. You will see how quickly clay can become a passion. There’s nothing better than to give a demo on a technique and see 6 people create 6 completely unique and individual pieces, as working with clay is different for everyone.
