Masterclasses

We have two new exciting masterclasses over two evenings with either Pip or Libby! The masterclasses are designed to spark your creativity, allowing you to tap into your artistic instincts and refine your techniques. You'll receive guidance and expert advice in a friendly environment, making it a wonderful opportunity to enhance your skills. Whether you're just starting out or have some experience working with clay, these masterclasses promise to be a delightful experience that boost both your personal expression and technical abilities. We can't wait for you to join us!

Sculptural sketching in clay

Two rough clay sculptures of human heads on a table.

Libby is a practicing artist, having exhibited in and around the West Midlands and London, and is offering a two-day workshop where you will find the poetry in the clay.

In this immersive experience, you will learn how to let creative energy flow through you as you connect with clay. Use your fingers to create; whether it’s a self-portrait, a loved one, or a famous figure, allow your creativity to flourish.

The piece you create will be finished with an oxide rub, enhancing the details and texture of your bust. Then either raw glazed or glazed- it’s up to you. The workshop promises to be a nurturing space, inviting participants to explore their individuality while honing their sculpting skills and discovering the beauty in each unique bust of a head.

Embrace the process and unlock your potential as you mold, shape, and breathe life into your clay creations.

Make your beloved family pet

Ceramic dog sculptures on a table, featuring various breeds with unique textures and colors, arranged in a row.

Pip is excited to offer a masterclass for you to create your very own ceramic pet sculpture. Over the course of two evenings, you will work from the foundational shaping of your sculpture, then add depth and detail, gradually adding your animals personal expression.

This is more than just a crafting session; you can immerse yourself in this creative process under Pip's expert guidance, who has worked for the past 24 years demonstrating ceramics at Wolverhampton University,

You will have the chance to enhance your work using colourful slips or oxide washes, before glazing it at 1230 degrees.

You will work side by side with the clay to bring your vision to life. Don't miss out on this wonderful opportunity to learn and create something special! Many of you may have admired her stunning dog sculptures during your visits to the studio.

Fancy a brew? We’ve got you covered with great tea and coffee facilities - and of course biscuits! There is also a delightful selection of handmade mugs to choose from (although picking the perfect mug might take longer than it takes for the kettle to boil).

We use stoneware clay and custom in-house glazes, to make each piece food and dishwasher safe. We first fire to 1000 degrees, after which a glaze of your choosing will be applied and fired to 1230 degrees.

Our courses are kept small, so you get the full benefit of expert advice while in a cosy friendly setting, with a maximum of 6 students per course. All courses are designed for beginners, returners and people wanting to refresh their skills. Please note that as a small independent studio, we have limited space and can only store fired pieces for up to 12 weeks. This course is designed for adults to explore their creativity, we have a range of other workshops to facilitate children’s exploration with clay.
